Terry's Thoughts May 2021
According to the dictionary the word encouragement means “to give hope or courage to.” That is precisely what happened during our recent Spring meeting. There was a great spirit, good attendance, and a real sense of fellowship returning to our association. Indeed, we are truly beginning to experience “hope and courage” as things begin to heat up and we begin to rebuild what the enemy has attempted to steal. Additionally, we were encouraged by the reports given concerning upcoming activity within the WCBA, reports of your faithfulness over the last year, and a real sense that everyone is ready to tackle the landscape before us with joy. I am indeed excited to see what the remainder of 2021 holds despite the challenges that remain.
Speaking of activities, I wanted to concentrate on a few of those opportunities we all can be a part of.
- On May 6 beginning at 7:00 P.M. the WCBA, along with the WMU, will be sponsoring a National Day of Prayer event here at the MRC. This event is for everyone and all are invited. We will have a time of concentrated prayer with a collection of speakers to guide our time together. Please consider being a part of this tremendously important time.
- On May 21, the WCBA Mission Development Team is sponsoring a Benefit Golf Tournament on behalf of the Family Resource Center here in Ahoskie. We are excited about the opportunity to assist this vital ministry for our area and to help minister to families who are often in crisis. The details are in this newsletter and on our websitehttps://westchowan.org/Golf-Tournament-2021.htm. There is a real need for participating teams and sponsorship. PLEASE TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHECK THIS OUT AND CONSIDER BEING A PART OF THIS EXCITING EVENT.
- The Mission Development Team also announced the beginning stages of forming a new partnership with two associations in West Virginia. We are coming to an end of our successful 5-year partnership with the Hudson Baptist Association in Upstate New York. The Lord certainly has blessed that partnership; however, we feel it is time to concentrate our efforts in a new partnership. As more information becomes available, we will of course be sharing that with you.
- Finally, Pastor Derik Davis gave an exciting report on our progress with the International partnership we now have with pastors in Moldova. Because of your generosity we have been able to fully fund two pastors for this year with a possibility of funding a third. We praise the Lord and continue to look for ways to strengthen that partnership as well as provide opportunities to visit these pastors in the future.
God is certainly on the move among us, and it is a privilege to be a part of what, I consider, the greatest association in the state of North Carolina. Remember we are much stronger when we are working together rather than apart. Do not forget to “encourage” one another!
